Information about Sycamore Base:
In Year 1, we provide a broad and balanced curriculum designed to spark curiosity through a diverse array of topics—from investigating our local area and comparing toys from the past to launching into the wonders of outer space. To bring these subjects to life, we utilize our amazing indoor and outdoor spaces to offer enhanced provision, which acts as a vital bridge for a smooth transition from EYFS.
By carefully enhancing our learning zones with resources specifically mapped to Year 1 National Curriculum objectives, we allow children to deepen their understanding through purposeful, hands-on exploration. This approach is essential in Year 1 as it maintains the active, high-engagement style of the Early Years while gradually introducing more formal academic goals. By blending structured teaching with this enriched environment, we ensure our pupils develop the independence and confidence they need to master the curriculum while feeling happy and secure in their new Key Stage 1 journey.
